Travel Experiences
Why It's Significant
I've been incredibly lucky to be able to travel as much as I have at such a young age, and it is something that has highly influenced who I am today. My parents love traveling and experiencing the world, and that's something they've passed down to me. Through my experience traveling, I've learned about many other cultures, traditions, religions, ecosystems, and much more. I've also learned a lot about myself by seeing who I am in different settings. The places and trips listed below have been some of the most significant to me.
Montezuma, Costa Rica
Last summer I had to opportunity to spend three weeks in Costa Rica studying to be a yoga instructor. It was almost like a study abroad. I spent 12 hours a day in a classroom of some sort for six days a week, totaling to 200 hours for the yoga teacher certification. It was an incredible experience and I grew a lot of skills there. I was able to practice public speaking, giving clear instructions, creating modifications, working with others, and even more. I learned a lot about myself in the process, and hope to have the opportunity to study abroad again.

Huatulco, Mexico
This trip allowed me to spend time in nature and appreciate some of the natural beauty of the world, both on land and in the ocean. I was able to reflect on how highly the environment one's in can impact them.

Salzburg, Austria
We only spent a few days in Austria, but the atmosphere of Salzburg was so pleasant and relaxed. There was such a connection between the history of the location and the modern touches of the civilization, which allowed me to reflect on how one's past influences their present.

Iceland
The natural beauty of Iceland was incredible. It is much different than the other nature I'd seen in my travels, but just as beautiful. This trip allowed me to reflect on how every place and every person has their own individual set of qualities that make them unique.

Rome, Italy
There are few places in the world that are able to compare to the history Rome has. I've been able to visit three times, and each time I've gotten to see more of what the city has to offer. I gained a deeper appreciation for art and history and how those things impact a civilization.

Scotland, United Kingdom
I've been able to go to Scotland three times, and have seen so much each time. There is so much history built into the daily lives of the people who live there, like the castles everywhere and rock walls outlining properties. It is a place my family and I feel at home, even being 3,000 miles from it.

Ireland
This is the trip that I felt I was able to immerse into the local culture the most. We were able to spend a full week in one spot in a village, and really get to experience how the locals lived. It is one of the experiences that most contributed to my desire to study abroad and experience cultures more deeply.
